Custom Software Development for Enterprises

Off-the-shelf software is written for an average company. Once your approval chains, pricing rules, or compliance obligations differ from that average, your team ends up patching the gaps with spreadsheets and chat messages. Custom software removes that gap by encoding the process you actually run.

Nagatama is an Indonesian software house that designs, builds, and operates enterprise systems end to end. We have shipped more than twenty production applications across HR, finance, logistics, security, and AI — every one of them live and usable today.

We start from the workflow, not from a feature list. That is why our systems tend to be smaller than expected and adopted faster than expected: nothing is built that nobody uses.

What a Custom Build Includes

Process and data modelling

We document who does what, in which order, with which approvals, and what data each step produces. The database schema and permission model follow from that map instead of from guesswork.

Role-based access and audit trails

Every enterprise system needs to answer who changed what and when. Row-level security, granular permissions, and immutable audit logs are part of the base build, not an add-on.

Integration with existing systems

Accounting software, attendance machines, payment gateways, legacy ERPs, or partner APIs. We build signed, retry-safe, idempotent integrations so data flows once and stays consistent.

Reporting and analytics

Operational dashboards for daily work and management reporting for decisions, exportable to Excel or PDF, with the numbers reconcilable back to their source records.

When Custom Software Pays Off

Custom development is worth the investment when your process is a competitive advantage, when licence fees for packaged software grow faster than your headcount, when several disconnected tools are being reconciled by hand, or when regulation requires an audit trail no spreadsheet can provide. If none of those apply, we will say so and recommend a packaged product instead.

Technology We Use

React and TypeScript on the front end, PostgreSQL with row-level security for data, Node and edge runtimes on the server, REST and realtime APIs for integration, automated CI/CD, observability, and an AI gateway when language models are part of the product. We favour mature technology with a deep talent pool over whatever trends this quarter.

How We Work

Every project runs through the same five stages, so you always know where the work stands and what you receive at each step.

1. Discovery and requirements analysis

We map your business processes, user roles, the data that flows between them, and the legacy systems that must stay alive. The output is an agreed requirements document with a prioritised module list.

2. Architecture and interface design

Database schema, permission model, integration flows, and screen designs come first. Prototypes are validated with key users so big changes happen while they are still cheap.

3. Incremental development per module

Work runs in short sprints. Each sprint produces a version your team can genuinely try in a test environment — not a progress percentage on a slide.

4. Testing, security, and UAT

Functional testing, load testing, permission review, and User Acceptance Testing with real users. Findings are fixed before the system is declared production ready.

5. Deployment, training, and maintenance

Production release, data migration, user training, documentation, monitoring, plus maintenance and continued development packages sized to your company.

Where We Deliver

Nagatama serves companies across Indonesia — Greater Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Denpasar, Balikpapan, Makassar, and Medan — and works with clients in Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia. Collaboration is remote-first with scheduled online meetings, a demo every sprint, and on-site visits for projects that need field observation such as warehouses, plants, or branch offices. English is a working language for documentation, meetings, and delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does custom software development cost?

Cost follows the complexity of the process being encoded, not the number of screens. A focused first module typically lands in the low tens of millions of rupiah, while a full enterprise suite is delivered module by module across several phases. We quote only after a requirements session.

How long before we can use the system?

The first usable module is normally ready in a matter of weeks. Larger suites go live progressively so your team benefits from early modules while later ones are still being built.

Who owns the source code?

You do. Source code, database schema, and documentation are handed over, and we can deploy to your own infrastructure if your policy requires it.

Can you take over an unfinished project from another vendor?

Yes. We start with a code and architecture audit, report honestly on what can be salvaged, and then either continue the existing codebase or rebuild the parts that are cheaper to replace than to repair.

What happens after launch?

Maintenance packages cover monitoring, bug fixes, security updates, and a monthly allocation for enhancements. Training and documentation for new staff are included.
